Cycling and mountain-biking in Tel / Parcines near Merano
Flat paths, yet high altitudes

Even a glance on the map sets the pulse of cyclists racing and puts a sparkle into the eyes of mountain-bikers. Flat paths through an orchard or vineyard, or high up to an alpine pasture. Cycling and mountain-biking in Merano & environs are a hit!
Hiking and cycling… on flat paths
The cycling routes of Parcines / Merano & environs offer romantic paths and wide horizons. The tour to the Venosta Valley provides a highlight. The new Merano-Malles train connection is perfectly equipped for cyclists. Take the Venosta train in the vicinity of the hotel and go to the final station Malles. From here you can cycle back for 50 km on the Claudia Augusta road. And if your kids get tired, you can simply take the next train and return to the hotel. In a southerly direction you can cycle to Bolzano and on to Lake Garda. Also here you have the possibility of taking the train back to the point of departure.
Mountain-biking… high altitudes
The absolute "classic" amongst the mountain-bike Transalp stages in the surroundings is the tour to the Naturno Pasture. A total route of 40 km awaits you, 16 km of which are ascending with a total difference in altitude of 1500 metres. You will be rewarded by a fascinating round view of the Tessa Group Nature Park, the Ötztal Alps, the Dolomites and the Ortles Mountain Group. Other highlights for ambitious mountain-bikers are the crossing of the Tessa Group Nature Park via Gelato Pass (2875 m) or conquering the highest Transalp crossing at Madriccio Pass (3146 m) amidst the Stelvio Pass Nature Park.
Road bike…
The Claudia Augusta road from Malles to Merano leads past vineyards, orchards and interesting sights and is also suitable for road bikes. A true challenge for all road bike cyclists is the 2757 m high Stelvio Pass with 48 turns (June to October). Those who love to cycle over mountain passes will enjoy a tour over Rombo Pass to the Ötztal Valley in Tyrol, and over Giovo Pass to the town of Vipiteno.
